6. Jordanhill Away

Carluke Tigers 38 - 24 Jordanhill Phoenix

On the 30th of May a cracking game was contested between Carluke Tigers and a hugely improved Jordanhill Phoenix team who had recruited heavily over the winter, adding a few former Paisley Hurricanes and a scattering of Premiership rugby union players to their playing roster.

Before long the Tigers found themselves 10 - 0 down after clever work from Scotland A international Kevin Lang sent Strydom over the line, followed by half back Martin putting his winger over in the corner. After this slow start the Tigers started upping their defence, with Barsanti and Karalus putting in some bone crunching hits, and before long the Tigers were 12 - 10 ahead from scores following two rampant dives up the middle from Nick McAuley. Another score before half time gave the Tigers a little breathing space, but this was a game that was going to go to the wire.

Half Time - Carluke Tigers 16 Jordanhill Phoenix 10

The second half opened with the Tigers continuing with the huge defensive hits to keep Phoenix at bay, and forcing errors in the process. Once in possession the Tigers cut down their own error count and after prolonged periods in possession started to turn the screw and ran in a few tries to provide some breathing space. Phoenix, however, had other ideas and after a period of possession managed to add a few efforts of their own.

In the end both team managed one further score each, andthe Tigers big hitting defence and control in attack managed to close the game out even when Barsanti found himself unluckily spending the last ten minutes in the sin bin.
