Return to Rugby or R2R has evolved a lot over the last few years. When we started out, it was really meant as a path (back) to contact rugby, so the sessions were a mix of fitness, ball-handling and contact drills and everything else you might need to get ready for ‘proper’ rugby. But we realised that there was more interest in a non-contact alternative. These days, a typical session consists of a quick warm-up, 10-15 minutes of fitness training, and about 45 minutes of touch rugby. Naturally (and most importantly), we finish with a pint or two in our beautiful clubhouse.
R2R takes great pride in living up to the Stags reputation as “Bucks Friendliest Club”. You couldn’t ask for a more welcoming, supportive group of guys. Our games are competitive but good-natured, with plenty of laughs and no scorekeeping. Most of our players range from their 30s to their 50s. Some are quite fit and some are decidedly not. Some come in with years of rugby experience and others with none at all. Some show up every week, others only make it once in a while. All are welcome with open arms.
