10. 200 Club Newsletter Number 19 Sept 2018

Dear 200 Club Member,
Welcome to Newsletter number 19 and welcome to the new season.
Unfortunately it has been a difficult start to the new campaign for the 1st XV. They have played potential promotion candidates in Marlow and Windsor in the first two weeks. With about of a third of the squad being injured they lost heavily to both teams but they have impressed at times during these games. With a full squad to select from, I’m sure that results will improve.
The next game is away at Abbey on Sept 29th followed by Ian Cameron-Webb’s first VP lunch of the season on October 6th at the game against Slough.
Come along to the VP lunch and support the Club, the 1st XV or the Wanderers who are playing Newbury 2nd. Please get a group of friends together and bring them along to the club for a good lunch and a grand day out. E-mail Ian on president@readingrfc.co.uk or camwebb@btinternet.com. The lunch, cooked in the cooker provided by the 200 Club, costs £15 per head and is really good value.
The Wanderers had a very good win against Henley 3 last week and hopefully there are some reinforcements for the 1st XV there.
The draw for August was done by a Windsor official after the match last weekend, sorry for the late draw but I was on holiday earlier. It is compulsory for ex-Teachers to go on holiday in September!!!!
The winners for August were
£200 – Number 172 – Bhupendra Mistry – a Junior/Mini Parent
£100 – Number 132 – Ryan Smith – Captain of the 1st XV against Windsor. This gave him some consolation after the game on Saturday
£50 – Number 93 – Sarah Fenton – wife of Dave Fenton .
Rumbles Bar, the upstairs room, is being improved all the time. We have had more photos put up and we are in the process of redoing and updating the Honours’ Boards. Mostly funded by the 200 club and we are grateful to Mike Brooks and Phil Wilson for devoting so much time to this improvement.
Are there any more team photos out there which could be put on display. Let me know glyke@hotmail.com.
We are hoping to use Rumbles Bar more and hopefully, I need to check with the Committee, there will be a 200 Club Buffet lunch in there on January 12th when the 1st XV and the Vikings (3rdXV) take on Abbey. More news to follow on that and I do hope that there will be a big turnout for the local derby.
I sent out the list of fixtures for the whole Club earlier this month and I will attach these again this time.

Best wishes,
Graham
