22. 200 Club Newsletter 4

Dear Members,

Welcome again to the 200 Club Newsletter. Thank you to all our new members for supporting the Club with your memberships.

You will be pleased to know that your committee have raised the membership to 154 members, remember we started with 55 when the new team took over in January.

Stuart, Mike and myself had a great morning at the Mini/Under 13 presentation morning on Sunday. We saw “The future of the Club” receive their awards and also heard that the younger members of the Club have continued with the spirit of rugby and taken on board the core values as outlined by the RFU. We met many of the parents and coaches and we were delighted with the take up of 200 Club membership from this section. Thank you once again. We will try to attract more memberships from the Minis/Juniors at the start of next season. The Walking Rugby was also being played alongside the youngsters and it is really good to see RRFC offering rugby from “Cradle to Grave”. My thanks on the Club’s behalf to Mike and Stuart for giving up their morning..

As the Minis/U.13’s were finishing, the senior players were starting to arrive for the Annual RRFC Memorial Day to honour past members of the club who are no longer with us.

The April Draw for the 200 Club took place whilst we had so many members at the Club. It was the month for higher prizes with £1000 being given away in total. The winners were:
£500 – Number 68 – Ron Hunter
£250 – Number 11 – Mark Marnell
£100 – Number 37 – Dave Parish
£100 – Number 95 – Geoff Earnshaw
£50 – Number 92 – Nicola Brooks.

Congratulations to the winners. Many winners were at RRFC for the draw with only Mark Marnell unable to receive his prize. If he lets me know his address, I will post his cheque to him.

Many of you will have seen the new RRFC 200 Club Banner which was on display on Sunday. This was possible due to one prizewinner giving his prize back to the 200 Club. Another prizewinner has donated his winnings to the Junior/Colts section.

The club had its AGM last Thursday and it was good to see so many members present. The Executive were delighted to announce the appointment of a new 1st XV Coach – Ben Wills, a young man who works in Rugby Development with the RFU and has coached at Hungerford RFC. We wish Ben all the very best as he takes on this role.

The committee will continue to draw the monthly prizes of £100, £50 and £25 throughout the Summer and the Newsletters will be rather shorter and probably only contain the list of prizewinners each month.

The Rhinos are just back from a very successful tour in Croatia and I managed to sign up a few more members on the bus back to RRFC.

Can we wish you all a very happy and relaxing Summer and come back next September determined to support the Club in any way that you can – playing or supporting – as the Club is determined to achieve promotion next season back into SW1 League.

We still need about another 40 members so please encourage your RRFC colleagues to join, remember just £5 a month to help your club and you could possibly win the money prizes.
