Good afternoon and welcome to Longmead Stadium for today's Bostik League match. We extend a warm welcome to our match officials as well as the players, officials and supporters of Kingstonian FC.
I trust everyone will enjoy their afternoon with us and wish you all a very safe journey home.
Last Saturday's game was not so much a game of two halves but more of a 75/25 split with the Angels finding their early season form for the last 20 minutes and could have come away with all three points. I would like to thank those who stayed and applauded the players and management team off of the pitch as it does make such a difference.
I do hope that the spring in the step of the players returns and that new members of the squad enjoy playing at Longmead, please take the time and make them feel welcome.
There is always unfortunately a flip side and some existing players will have to make way this is not because of their endeavour or skills but we have a budget which needs to be kept to and Steve as the manager has some very hard decisions to make.
As some of you may have see my programme notes are now being put on the club's website and this is following a suggestion by one of our owners as a follow up to the question and answer session at the AGM.
We are now able to officially welcome Sarah, Jim, Wink and Clint to the Board of TAFC the FA have approved them to be 'fit and proper people' to hold the position of a director of a football club.
A meeting has already been held and we have identified areas that the club needs to concentrate on to expand our standing in the community as well as income generation.
Jim will continue with his role as communications director.
Sarah will be the director looking after the marquee and be responsible for the co-ordination of all the elements that have to be in place.
Wink is going to be the director for the youth and junior section and will look to forge closer ties between the Angels and Tonbridge Juniors.
Clint is the director for merchandising. It is an area where over the years we have not been on the 'ball' so as to speak and I hold my hands up to plead guilty for this failing.
All the new directors have a drive and passion for the club and we are looking for your views. So please do not be surprised if you are asked for your opinion on a variety of subjects about the club.
Pete and I have had a meeting with one of the FA's suppliers regarding the grant for Groundsman of the year and we are just waiting to arrange a meeting with the plant and machinery supplier. I will keep you up to date as to how we progress.
Unfortunately we have been informed that there is yet another water leak on the supply pipe into the ground and we have had to carryout some digging to try to locate the source of the problem.
As some of you may have seen Peter Overton's funeral on the 29 January is to be for family and close friends only at the wish of his family. I have spoken to Peter's widow and she asked me to pass on the family's thanks for all the kind wishes and offers of support. The club will be represented at the funeral by Phil Emblen and there will be a collection at the ground today for his family.
Please enjoy your afternoon with us and let us all look forward to a good new year which of course will not be without its challenges.
Dave
