9. Chairman’s Notes : 09.02.19.

Hello and welcome to Longmead Stadium for this afternoons Bostik League match. A very warm welcome to today's match officials and the players, officials and supporters of Margate FC.

I hope everyone enjoys their afternoon with us and wish you all a very safe journey home.

Our visitors are having a mixed season, though as I have written before in my notes all teams in the league are capable of beating each other no matter what their league position.

We have had three great results two in the league and one in the Kent Senior cup which have helped to put the pre Christmas dip behind us however there is no room for complacency. As you might have guessed these notes have been written before the scheduled league game at Lewes which is no easy place to go to, although the weather may intervene. We sit well placed in the league and are now through to the semi final of the Kent Senior Cup and we will entertain Bromley the date is to be confirmed.

The weather has left its mark on the pitch. Last Tuesday when Ebbsfleet visited us the rain also turned up, the pitch cut up quite badly and then the weather turned cold so Pete Elves could not do any work on it until Monday of this week. It has taken three days to get it back into the condition that you see it today and I just hope that the rain that is forecast does not materialise otherwise it will be a bit of a battle to get it ready.

Pete and I are now looking at the quotations provided by the FA suppliers and it looks certain that we will be able to carry out the much needed end of season repairs and with a bit of luck purchase some machinery.

The winter weather left us with a burst pipe which has been repaired and the remedial work to the water main is being organised now that the freezing weather has departed.

In the marquee an electrician has been tasked with tidying up the cables and installing new sockets and the works will be completed before the next event. We have also found that our membership secretary Dave Parker has a talent as an electricians apprentice.

The Bostik League issues on a regular basis a Respect League Table for the clubs to show how well they are behaving and the latest table shows that we are second out of the 81 teams which is a great testament to Steve, his management team and the players.

I have been asked about the possibility of running coaches to some of the away games. At present this is not in the club's plans but if required we will do so.

Please take some time to put the close season events in your diaries so that you can come along or if you would like to help out as a volunteer.

The Garden Show on the 11 and 12 May is always busy and there are always jobs to do to ensure that the event is a success. Angelfest on 24 25 and 26 May is again a major event and volunteers will be asked for during the next few weeks to help out.

Please don't think that volunteers have to work all the days at these events even a morning or an afternoon will be of great help.

A big thanks to all our management teams, players and volunteers for making the Angels club that it is.

Just as a final note in last weeks non league paper that were articles about clubs that have hit a financial brick wall. It is just a reminder that it is very difficult for clubs at the moment and it is very important that the club continues to work with our sponsors and all of us try to find new ways to promote and advertise the club.

Good luck to all our teams this weekend and please enjoy your afternoon with us

Dave
