2. Chairman’s Notes 22.04.19.

Hello and thank you for coming along to Longmead Stadium for this afternoon's last home Bostik League fixture for the 2018/19 season. A warm welcome to today's match officials, players, officials and supporters of Carshalton Athletic.

Although of course there is the prospect of play off football at Longmead should we finish second or third in the league.

Welcome and thanks to our match sponsor Tonbridge Flooring Studio and to our mascots Oscar Hill and Harrison Beck and Ball Sponsor Bill Priestly and Friends I do hope that they enjoy their afternoon with us.

I hope everyone has a great time with us and I wish you all a very safe journey home.

I will begin my notes by thanking everyone involved with the club for helping the club through what has been a very difficult season and one which has been a veritable roller coaster. The support that I have received personally has helped me through what can only be described as difficult times not only at the club but also outside of it. There is one person to whom I do have special praise for and that is my very long suffering wife Marian as she has had to put up with more than most.

Our visitors today at the time of writing these note are just behind us in the play off places and are a very good run of form so yet again the lads will face a stern test. The support last Saturday was magnificent and I do hope that this can be replicated today.

The loss to Dorking last Saturday showed that we have a team which can play good football and compete with the best in the league and I am sure that the players and management will be up for the challenge today.

For this of you who are wavering about becoming an owner please take the opportunity to either complete the application form or contact the club's membership secretary Dave Parker.

In the next few weeks the season ticket prices will be announced for the 2019/20 season please take the opportunity to take advantage of the discounts for the 'early bird'.

The club are hosting the SCEFL Challenge Cup final on Saturday 4 May KO at 2pm. The game is between Corinthian and Chatham Town please come along and enjoy what promises to be a good game of football. Admission charges will be made for all spectators.

On the 5 May the club are hosting the Maidstone and District Finals day. There will be three games played over the day and it is always very enjoyable. There will be an admission charge for all spectators.

There will be a charity game at Longmead on 9 May when the U15's managed by Todd will be playing against Langton Green for the Henry Groonvelt Cup. For those of you who never met Henry he was the nicest person you could ever wish to meet. He was the club's coach driver and nothing was ever too much trouble for him he not only took the first team to matches but also our youth teams. All details will be on our website. There will be an admission fee with all money being donated to CRY to enable further heart screening to be carried out at the club.

Yet again I will make an appeal for volunteers to help at our various events. We will need stewards as well as help at the catering outlets.

The club is looking for sponsorship for next season and we are more than happy to consider any reasonable offer and I have asked the club's commercial team to put forward packages that can be offered and these will be available soon.

We already have very generous sponsors of the club but as all clubs have found circumstances change and in these times of uncertainty new ideas are required help raise funds and to also expand our growing community involvement.

Please visit our new marquee website www.tafcmarquee.co.uk. There will be link to the main TAFC website in due course. If you know anyone looking for a venue to hire for a function please contact us.

Please take care and good luck to all our teams this weekend and please enjoy your afternoon with us

Dave
