Wibsey finally got their season underway at Cleckheaton thirds on a wet day at Whitcliffe Mount, losing a 12-0 lead to go down 22-12.

A first-half penalty count of nine to four in Cleckheaton's favour made their task even

harder.

Matt Holdsworth won a one-on-one with his opposite number to score Wibsey's first try, converted by Burton.

They stretched their lead when Walker kicked through for McHale to slide in, pick up and score near the posts.

In the second half, Wibsey made wholesale changes which affected the mobility of the pack but gave all Wibsey's players a run-out. The result was that Cleckheaton got themselves back into the game and three tries in the last quarter saw them run away with the victory.
