2. 1st XI 2016/2017

Steady Progress

Braishfield went into their second season in the top flight hoping to improve on their previous placing and hopefully return to county football.

The season started well and Braishfield were amongst the early front runners, but once again BTC Southampton were run away champions whilst the rest of the division was extremely close with most teams taking results of each other. Once again, Braishfield finished in almost the same position albeit with an improved points tally and goal difference.

There were no cup expliots although we gave Hampshire League champions Bush Hill a good game in the county Intermediate Cup whilst we were massively stitched up in the Southampton Senior Cup after being forced to forfit home advantage and play Wessex League Division 1 champions Hamble Club (who were at full strength) away under floodlights and suffer a damaging 2-10 thumping.

We also applied to join the Hampshire League, but were frustratingly not nominated and later found out that the club who were then withdrew their application as they did not have their own ground. Words fail!!
