9. 1st XI 2013/2014

What a season!

The previous seasons relegation prooved to be a blessing in disguise for Braishfield as they stepped down to Junior Division 2 (their lowest level since 1979!). Returning to their traditional home at the Recreation Ground with a fantastic new pavillion gave the club the perfect spring board. Manager Matt Payne made some new additions  and the team hit the ground running in the league as they were soon amongst the early pacesetters. Eventually, it became a two-horse race between us and new student side Montefoire Halls and a crunch title decider, we won 2-0 in front of our largest crowd for many years and this was enough to clinch our first Saturday league title since 1980!

The cups were all short lived affairs as we fell at the first hurdle in all four competitions, including an herioc display away at Wessex League side Andover Town, but this probably helped us in our quest for the league title.

As a result of this success and our fantastic facilities, the League have "double promoted" us back up to the Senior section - a level we last played at in 2006. When the old pavillion was built in 1975 that saw the begining of the clubs most successful period, fingers crossed history repeats itself!!
